In a southern tale of love, magic, jealousy and secrets, Toulou escapes from the Mississippi Delta cotton fields to pursue her dream of singing the blues in Memphis. When she meets a rambling blues man, the notorious Ace of Spades, this dream is realized in a way she could never have imagined.

About the Discovery Series
Cherry Lane’s Discovery Series gives new plays a premiere Off-Broadway production. Recent Mainstage productions include Women on Fire, by Irene O’Garden, starring Judith Ivey (Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Show), Saint Lucy’s Eyes, by Bridgette Wimberly, starring Ruby Dee, (winner of three Audelco Awards), and Slag Heap by Anton Dudley, with Vincent Kartheiser and Brienin Nequa Bryant. All of these acclaimed productions were fine-tuned in our development programs.
