Re: Her Mentorship with Lynn Nottage
Who am I as an artist? What am I trying to say about this world, to this world? Will they even hear me? These are the challenging questions the Cherry Lane Mentor Project has helped me begin to answer. The emerging phase of every artist’s life is fraught with so much self-doubt and uncertainty, but this program seeks to instill confidence and craft in the budding writer by allowing us to develop our unique voices in a cradle of love, support and respect. Being a playwright is about more than just writing the play, it is about the process of letting go and giving up your spirit to those talented actors and director who infuse our stages with the light of life. I have never felt so lucky and blessed as I have felt in this past year. Thank you Lynn Nottage, my mentor, and my family at the Lane for allowing my work to bloom in magical ways I never thought possible.
